Artist's Statement

My inspiration is drawn from my environment and the people - the characters - that inhabited my childhood, in particular when accompanying my parents in their respective occupations. I have an abiding fascination with the eccentricities which exist just below the surface of rural life and which I have to say are not always entirely wholesome.

Modern life is gradually and inexorably eroding age-old patterns of life and systems of belief. Similarly, my landscape work is an attempt to capture the essence of the bucolic farm land which has hitherto changed so little in Cornwall.
