WORK IN PROGRESS

...du temps perdu...

...du temps perdu... is a large scale ongoing project. Although taking its initial impetus from Proust's novel -Á la recherche du temps perdu (Remembrance of Things Past) - it is not a musical rendering of it. More specifically, it is an exploration of MJS's own personal memories which when recalled (or triggered) transport the author back to an earlier time as though it were the present. Integral and parallel to this theme is a theme of 'disintegration' rooted largely in MJS's own belief that much of the England that he grew up in has become eroded and lost forever. From this theme comes a larger scale electronic score entitled The Last of England.

"Spring lapped the fields in arsenic green, the oaks died this year. On every green hill mourners stand, and weep for The Last Of England."from the film The Last of England by Derek Jarman.
